What do you do to maintain a balance between your career and the rest of your life? Many residents of our North Austin apartments struggle to draw a clear line between the end of their work day and the start of the rest of their day. Now that everyone always has access to their work email, there are fewer excuses to miss an update from your boss. We’re not ones to complain about having 24/7 access to the internet, but it can be a bit of a problem when you’re at home trying to unplug at the end of the day.
It’s important to find a balance between your work and your home life. That’s why we’ve decided to write an entire blog post about tips and tricks that you can use to achieve a better work-life balance. Even if you enjoy working long hours and are passionate about your career, you still might benefit from the list of tips below. After all, there’s a lot more to life than work.
Let’s get right to the list of tips, shall we? When you’re done reading through the post below, please feel free to share the link to this page with your friends and neighbors at your community of apartments on 183 North.
Play to your strengths
If you’re a morning person, you should be working on your hardest tasks right away when you get into the office. That way, you’ll have nothing but easy tasks left to do when you’re trying to wrap things up at the end of the day. If you're not a morning person, don’t make things harder on yourself by trying to tackle huge tasks in the am hours. Instead, take care of them when you have more energy in the afternoon.
Set up after-work events
An after-work event can be as simple as a happy hour date or as involved as a meeting a personal trainer. All that matters is that you put things on your calendar that start at 5:30 or 6:00 pm. The more of these events you have throughout the week, the less likely you’ll be to stay late at the office. After all, you’ve got things to do!
Leave the laptop in your bag
Try not to take your laptop out of your bag when you get home from work. If you have to look up a recipe or check your personal email, do it on your phone. You’ll be a lot less likely to work if you don’t see your laptop sitting out on the counter all evening.
